Today, January 18th, 2007 was a very special day. After 4 months of waiting, we finally have a new, beautiful, fully-automatic washing machine!!! Last year from February or March until September we had a fully-automatic machine that worked only part of the time, and when it did work "properly" it only worked like a semi-automatic machine. It was missing some important parts and had definitely seen better days. Then in September it quit working all together. So around the first of October we began the process of having a washing machine repairman come. That took weeks. Eventually we found out that it needed several more parts which would have taken several more weeks to get. Then probably around the end of October we began the search for a new machine. They aren't that widely available in our town, so we ended up having to order one. Well, that was supposed to take about 2 weeks, but I think it took 6 or 7. Then finally, about the week before Christmas a nice little coolie (porter) delivered our beautiful new machine to our house. That was a GREAT feeling. Well, just a few minutes later I found out that the man from the store could not hook up everything properly so we would have to wait again...this time for an "engineer" to come. We informed the store that we would only be in town for a little over 1 week at that time, so it would be really great if they could come soon. Well, of course they called the day I was in a taxi on my way to Delhi for our Thailand trip. Nice timing. So Julie and I have been back for about a week now. She began calling them at the end of last week to inform them that we're back and waiting. Of course they had full schedules for several days, BUT TODAY WAS THE DAY! Some nice man came and properly installed everything, and now we can wash our clothes! (not that we haven't been, but now we don't have to use a bucket and our hands...we even have spin cycle!!)

Wow! Enjoy! That's a feeling of success - I'm sure! is success the word? No, I'm not sure it is and the proper it's coming to me right now though. I'm excited for you girls! Congrats!

I had heard that things take a long time in India- clothes washers for example. So, who said you don't need a tv for entertainment over there? Was it Julie? Just skimming thru your blog. Everyday sounds like an adventure!
